Historic Florida Architecture & American Landscape Photography

Mark your calendars for this Fall's exhibit at the Lake Wales Arts Center!   Historic Florida Architecture & American Landscape Photography featuring Niki & Clyde Butcher.
November 6, 2009 through January 8, 2010

You are invited to attend the exhibit's Opening Reception on Thursday, November 5, from 5 to 7 pm.  Cocktails will be served. Admission is free.

AP Studio Art Exhibit

The Lake Wales Art Center is currently hosting the 2009-10 AP Studio Art Exhibit. The exhibit is open through October 30, 2009. Admission is free.

The 30 pieces featured in this exhibit were selected from over 35,000 AP Studio Art portfolios submitted in spring 2009. Students taking AP Studio Art classes are engaged in college level work. This is truly an elite group of high school student artists from across the nation and world.

"Alla Prima", A Painting Exhibit

The Lake Wales Arts Council, Inc. is pleased to present “Alla Prima” a Painting Exhibit of 16 Emerging Artists featuring Polk County Landscapes. An Opening Reception will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Michael Crews Gallery and will remain on display through August 14, 2009.

“Alla Prima” has been curated by Mr. Vilas Tonape from Polk State College and includes painting by 16 emerging artists. The artists participating in this exhibit are Alexander Bryant, Cindy Cassel, Susan Chase, Matt Davis, Martin Davis, Jerod Dunn, Elizabeth Frith, Patty Lovell, Zack McGhin, Syrena Olivo, Chelsea Price, Joe Prine, Brenda Poff Hill, Kim Ross, Jessica Sanchez and Brant Thorpe.

This Exhibit is generously sponsored by the Polk State College and the Polk State College Foundation. Proceeds from the sale of artwork will benefit the Lake Wales Arts Council, Inc. and Polk State College.

2009 Lake Wales Arts Show

Hey folks! The event of the season is upon us, so mark your calendars for the 38th annual Lake Wales Arts Show on March 28th and 29th!

All are invited to stroll the “walk of art” set under a canopy of oak and sky on the shores of Lake Wailes, with a beautiful backdrop of Lake Wailes National Audubon birding trail. This juried art show is critically acclaimed and draws 30,000 visitors annually from throughout the South. Discover the fine art and fine crafts from more than 125 artisans from around the nation and abroad. The variety of media and style here offers something of interest for everyone from the enthusiast to the serious collector and meets price points for everyone.

Live musical entertainment, specialty foods and an exciting children’s activity area make for an experience the whole family will enjoy.

There is no admission fee and no charge for parking. The Art Show is produced by a volunteer committee of the Lake Wales Arts Council with more than 200 volunteers from the community.

Bluegrass Concert - Feb 19



Jeff Little will be in concert at the Lake Wales Arts Center on Thursday, February 19th at 7:30pm.

Piano Man from the Blue Ridge. Jeff Little’s involvement with fiddle tunes, old time country and rockabilly dates back to his growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Since then he has toured around the world and performed for the Smithsonian Institution, National Public Radio, Folk Masters and the National Council for Traditional Arts “American Piano Masters.” He can be a one man show with mouth-rack harmonica and vocals.

Gala - Caribbean style!

The Lake Wales Arts Council's 7th Annual, “Hearts for the Arts” Gala will be held on February 13, 2009 and this year’s theme is “Colors of the Caribbean”.


Everyone is invited to set sail into the soul of the Caribbean and experience a gala beyond the ordinary where the calypso beat of the Tropical Hammer Steel Drum Duo beckons, culinary delights of Chef Lo scent the air and the Boca Band resounds with rhythms of the night. Our crew has a special adventure planned for you!


All cruisers are invited to browse our 2009 Silent Auction during the evening- including items such as a weekend getaway to Beech Mountain, Lois Hill Jewelry, Rounds of golf at Mountain Lake and Lake Wales Country Club and much, much more.


Tickets for this event are $50 per person for young adults age 40 and younger, $75 per person and $125 per person which includes a chance to win a fabulous beach vacation for a week at Duck Key!
